Throwaway, for obvious reasons. I fear I’ve become what many people have said long before: I’ve worked so long in the business I forgot to work on it. Now, I feel like I’m so deep, it’s actually become more stressful. I’m a one man band and am fortunate enough to have grown a business quite organically (SEO only) over the last 5 years. I run extremely high profit margins, don’t have to worry about inventory, and am playing with the “Big Brands” now for many queries. Revenues are in excess of $50,000/month, and everything is going peachy. But I can’t do it alone any longer. I’ve contracted out content and editing, programming (to an extent, basically just as much as needed), and even a little marketing, but it’s getting to the point where I think I need to take things more… seriously? I have no dedicated personnel, per say, but have an increasing number of needs. Couple examples: UX/UI – I could really use someone to work on page speed, especially on mobile. I could use someone to clean up a few things here and there, adding basic functionalities, design touches, and maybe even some bigger things, too. Data/Analytics – I could really use someone to get schema better integrated, get GTM better integrated, and automate reports. Testing – I could really use someone knowledgeable in split-testing and/or running ads (I run zero). Social – I have zero social presence. It’s not something I care to build out as an extension of my business, but not posting on Facebook or Twitter in 2 years probably doesn’t help my brand awareness (lack thereof). I could really use someone just to make it look like we’re alive, and human. I know some of you here are quite knowledgeable in scaling businesses/sites/assets and I’d love to get some thoughtful input as to what kinds of things the hive mind would suggest as appropriate additions to keep things progressing. I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty, but I can only specialize in so much. Do I get a PM and have him/her take care of this stuff? Do I continually outsource? Do I take on an agency who wears the hats? How do I prioritize these things? How do I un-bottleneck me? – by hq overview ScalingSEOThrowaway – –
