TLDR should I say yes on a project that is bound to fail? I’ve done a little work for him in the past so I’m familiar with his work. He’s a salesman/fundraiser for VCs, I’m sure he’s great at it. His resume in sales is extensive. He’s trying to grow is own personal brand online, selling various courses like leadership, how to be a better executive, etc. He is qualified to teach the topics, but his execution is miserable. I realized today he’s a snake oil salesman. The advice is extremely vague, talks in broad terms, is out of touch with his audience, product is shit, etc. The only product I believe of any value is his personal time teaching others how to sell. He pays me well (4x my current hourly rate ) and wants to hire me on retainer + bonus. Should I be honest and tell him I don’t believe in his product? Or ride the wave for a bit and see how much money I can make out of this. Maybe I can help him improve the product … though I’m doubtful. – by hq overview soothsayer3 – –
