Do hashtags on Facebook Page posts actually work?

I don’t really like to use hashtags on our Facebook Business Page posts, because I think they are ugly and so far kind of useless on the posts we did experiment with them on. What is your experience with them, and have they brought you more engagement. Also, do people actually search via hashtags on Facebook? I’m curious to know if you, or the people you know do?
