Do startups buy business insurance?

Looking to launch my business soon and wondering if insurance is necessary? At what point did you buy insurance? How did you find rates and the broker to go with? Are there any companies that focus on startups? I did some preliminary searching and most insurance companies do small business insurance/general liability.
