Entering a market with an enormous competitor
-
I came up with what I thought was a cool idea. Started building it in my free time. As it developed it seemed more and more like a great concept. I’ve got a bit money saved, so I decided to quit and focus on it full time. I had looked around for competitors initially and hadn’t found any strong ones. Then today I found one. And it’s doozy, like a publicly-traded, $500M ARR size competition. I dismissed them at first because I didn’t understand all the services they offer and couldn’t figure out how to use their service. At this point I’m committed, so might as well ship anyways. But it’s a bit intimidating. Things I have going for me: total addressable market is absolutely huge, so there is lots of space their offering is enterprise-targeted and does almost everything, but also is very hard to use and navigate my offering will be substantially easier to use, half the price, and cater to small-to-medium startups as opposed to enterprise no network effect to worry about Thoughts on entering a large space with large competitors? How should I differentiate? – by hq overview static416 – –
