I am about to start my own business which specializes on the delivery of fresh local food to consumers. What makes my business special is that food producers can login to sell their food on my platform. So think of Amazon but just for local food.
For this I spoke with another small company in the same field and we agreed that I pay them once and they will provide me their software clone, which is a multi-vendor marketplace.
They sent me an offer where they charge me a licensing fee plus an extra charge of 9,000$ for their IT agency to clone their software. They said that the 9k is the price they have to pay to their agency and that they are not profiting off that position alone.
Is cloning a software really that expensive? I understand why licensing is expensive but I expected a 1:1 clone to be cheaper since the development has already been done.
But since I am not a developer, I want to ask you guys for comfirmation. I am by no means an expert on this field and it is possible that the price is justified. Thank you!
