So this small project selling my photographs has ballooned into not knowing what I’m doing at all. I’m basically only selling postcards and fine art prints online most of the time. Sometimes I may go out and sell at local craft fairs and a small boutique has an interest in stocking some of my photos but that’s about all I plan on doing at the moment. The only type of paperwork I have for this business currently is the California Department of Tax and Fees Administration seller’s permit. I went to try and get a business license with the closest city near me but since I live in a County unincorporated and my county doesn’t issue business license for what I’m selling I guess I don’t need one for an online business. When I plan on selling at craft fairs I will probably go the weekend business license route or the or through the fairs directly. The boutique is a very recent thing so that may or may not require me to actually get a business license. I probably need more than just the sellers permit but I am struggling to know what paperwork I need to have for this business open legally. I know there’s probably a ton of helpful questions and answers on the sub but I don’t even know where to start asking questions. I’m in the process of setting up my website and I’m setting up an automated sales tax calculations through TaxJar and they’re asking for the State Tax ID. Would that be my sellers permit ID because they are both nine digits. They’re also ask for state registered business name. I have a business name but I don’t know if my business name is officially registered anywhere. I also don’t know what my state assigned payment scheduled is so I I can’t even complete the information TaxJar needs from me to set up The automatic sales tax calculations on my website. Any help at this point will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. – by /hq/souji5okita – –
