I had spent weeks finalizing and perfecting my pitch, my samples, the promotional material, everything to just avoid going door to door and facing that rejection. My product is a medium-ticket item that maybe 10-50 apartment complexes in my city would be interested in, and I had rationalized that the chances of closing just one or two more by improving my pitch, demo, materials was worth the time spent waiting for the materials to get updated and reprinted. This morning I woke up and felt particularly ready for some enterprise-grade rejection. I ended up learning more about what my customers wants and needs were in just 5 hours hoofing-and-helloing around the city to a few pre-selected businesses than I had learned in months of ‘research’ and assumption-making. Besides the benefit of actually engaging my target audience for feedback, it felt really good to get out and stretch my legs a bit, metaphorically speaking. This entire project so far has been built in my shop and behind my computer desk, leaving me a bit motivation-ally and creatively stagnated. Today has left me feeling very motivated and optimistic about the project outcome. Stay humble and good luck to everyone out there grinding! – by hq overview timmah1991 – –
