I’m an office manager for a small commercial subcontractor and we do quite a lot of T&M on top of our contract work. We still use physical slips, signed by supers, to confirm work done on T&M. This means, on a weekly basis, I get anywhere between 20-50 physical work slips for 10-20 different jobs. I’m sick of individually putting away 20 invoices every week into stuffed file drawers and I’m running out of space. I keep scanned copies of everything so after these get filed away I never see them again. Is it time to just cut out the paper aspect? I know we’re supposed to keep record of work done for 5 years but it just feels like such a big waste of space and time. I was thinking instead of just getting rid of the paperwork entirely I would change the system from “by job” to “by week.” That will save me from pulling out every individual job folder for every invoice and instead I can just stuff all of them into a single folder for that week. Anyone have similar experiences or any suggestions? – by /hq/CerealandTrees – –
