How can we tell whether a service / site is being actively developed / maintained?

User point of view here, and as a freelancer I pay for lots of different services online (productivity, communications, professional etc). I’ve found over time that lots of good services seem to be actively developed and then, after a while, development slows down and then the project seems to stagnate. It’s obviously best for a paying customer to know that there is someone at the other end working on improving and maintaining a product, but it’s hard to know how to find out. From a developer point of view – aside from asking on social media or contact forms (which often bears no fruit) is there a way? Thanks! – by hq overview ThatHelicopter – –
