I worked in nonprofits for a long time but have grown tired of the toxic environments (I wasn’t allowed to turn lights on in one place or leave for lunch at another), closed minded personalities and lack of vision (one place only wanted to post on social at 11am everyday). So I’ve finally decided to go off on my own and continue to help small businesses get off the ground or grow existing businesses that are stagnant. I’ll be providing business development/digital marketing/general advisory services with a particular focus on minority and women owned businesses, or businesses that are socially conscious. Since many of them are just getting started or don’t have enough revenue to hire someone that gives a ????, I was wondering how to charge for services – Do I take a percentage after money/grants start coming in? All the work that I’ve done regarding economic development and capacity building is owned by the organization I was working for so I can’t put any of the businesses I’ve worked with nor any of the social media I’ve created for them on my site. I have to build my portfolio from scratch. I have a few potential clients on hold but want to make sure I provide a coherent cost structure for my services. Please, please help! I’m excited and scared but ready to make moves- I refuse to go back to any sad excuse for a workplace. Also, my apologies for the length- I hope what I have described makes sense! Thanks for reading ????????. – by hq overview Sauci_P – –
