I’ve a e-commerce client that uses an recommendation platform to personalize user recommendation on their home page. Unfortunately, this is set up in such a way that crawlers can’t follow any category or product links on their home page. There are links on the front page that goes to the recommendation platform and then redirects to the correct category page. It works seamless from a user perspective, but the crawlers don’t follow. This is making me think they are losing a lot of link equity to important pages (especially the categories). At the same time all information I can find is that personalized user experience with recommendations is good. How can I handle this? The client wants and needs the recommendations platform – the users probably do too, but I fear the SEO consequences. – by hq overview iHeretic – –
