Really don’t know where to start. I work for a major network agency for a very ‘famous’ creative director and he keeps making racist/sexist remarks, keeps pushing the casting to being all white for the ‘civilized’ bits and has thrown in an African tribe for ‘some ethnic mix’. When he wanted to add more Asian people he referred to them as ‘Orientals’ and ‘Exotic’. He also has said the whole diversity push is bullshit and only harming the industry because it’s taking away jobs from the people that deserve them. I see him being supported by the other people around him who agree and go along with the jokes. I can’t speak up (I tried a couple of times) but I need to get my paycheck and pay my mortgage before I become some kind of martyr, but I can’t keep quiet either because it’s all over my face (according to my art director). What is most terrifying is you can see how the whole structure in the agency supports him. Upper management loves him because he’s a big name and the people below him allow him to get away with stuff because they want to work with him. How do you guys cope on days like this? Is it just me or is it widespread? What is going on… – by hq overview imbluedararirada – –
