For context: I am the employee. I started a year ago right when the company was in their alpha fund raising round. I don’t know the specifics but we raised over a million dollars and the company valuation was in the teens. I was given 0.1% equity options vested over 3 years. When I started we were around 20 employees and now we are around 40. Ok, I love the company, we have a great product and I want more skin in the game. However I want to be reasonable and well informed when I approach them about more equity. I work on the software development team (our product is software) with about 12 others. All of us have similar experience. I know I do quality work and am well trusted by our manager. What is a reasonable approach here? I want enough equity where I want to put in extra hours but 0.1% doesn’t really excite me to work 10 hour days. What would you be willing to negotiate with a good employee who wants to be further invested in the company? – by /hq/GooseRage – –
