I am a doctor and have little to no knowledge about Web Dev in detail but have been using WordPress for various hobby websites for a number of years in a limited capacity. My most recent website, a general purpose medical information website kind of like WebMD or Medscape has grown to have ~150-200 daily visitors organically. I have now decided to grow this website as much as I can as a side hobby. My main goal is to earn enough to offset its operational costs. Anything more is just an added bonus. I initially wanted to register my domain under Google Domains but was unable to get the name of my choice (.com) since it was registered under GoDaddy. On checking with GoDaddy I found that there was no website and the domain was just registered by someone else (maybe to resale to potential buyers like me). GoDaddy Domain Broker Service cost 7500 INR (100 USD) for brokarage services which has an average of 30% success rate so I obviosuly didn’t go for that. (Discussions: 1, 2) I then contacted the owner via GoDaddy WhoIS Database (email) and am currently waiting from a reply from the registrant which I doubt will happen soon. However the domain name of my choice is still available under the following: .in | 860 INR or 12 USD per year (I’ m based in India but my website content is not location specific so I don’t know whether I should get this domain) .io | 4700 INR or 58 USD per year .info | 860 INR or 12 USD per year .co | 2152 INR or 29 USD per year What is your advise? I just want to import my website to Siteground and move on but can’t seem to get past this hurdle to begin with. – by /hq/deboo117 – –
