Hi everyone, I am a 3D artist and a storyteller. I love creating my own characters and bringing them to life through animation. I am currently in the preproduction phase of a short film I have been wanting to make for years. The film industry is not something I see mentioned a lot on here. There doesn’t seem to be one set way of monetizing a short film aside from film festivals and YouTube ads. I was thinking of making tutorials of my own, though I’m not exactly the only one with this idea, I would need some way of standing out from others in that case. I’m considering Kickstarter to help fund the project as well as local grants, but I don’t know where to go from there. Once my project is complete and released, what next? There’s no distributor for short films. Music artists have Bandcamp, game developers have Steam, app developers have the App store, where would I go? I could upload it to YouTube but then it’s free and I’m not getting paid for my hard work. Would it be too farfetched to pitch my film to Netflix or other streaming services? I don’t even know where to begin on that process. I guess for now I should be working on saving up money at my part time job and getting the word out there. In a couple years I will be releasing the best short film ever created 🙂 Help is appreciated! – by hq overview prplelemonade – –
