I’m losing internet soon, so I was going to see about having an SQL server set up on my PC so I can continue working on my html/Js pages while able to ‘playtest’ using data tables. My sitehost (who is a nice guy I admit) says I needed XAMPP and nodeJS. After struggling with my PC, we finally got both installed when I found out he’s new to using these as well, so I’m a bit uncertain I’m on the right road. I am doing this after being told instead of learning php, I can just use JS to talk directly to the sql tables and get/modify the data as needed. While waiting on the sitehost (we live on other sides of the world) I have been researching using NodeJS and it seems I need a client to interact it, which makes me even less certain its what I need. Or is nodeJS something I will just be running in the ‘background’ of my computer and I code the js/html as usual? Or are we going the difficult/harder way? – by /hq/horsetuna – –
