Hey r/Marketing! I’m a sophomore business major planning to go into marketing and I’m looking for any advice that you could give. For a backstory, I’ve wanted to go into marketing since 12th grade, once I started learning more about social media marketing. Since I was 13-14 years old, I’ve ran numerous big pages on Facebook and Instagram related to video games, the city I live in, etc, but just for fun and never for money, but I never realized that there was jobs for stuff like that. So marketing has really captivated me, especially with my clothing brand that I’m in the process of starting, coming up with marketing strategies is my favorite part of it. But I feel that it’s important to gather as much advice and info about marketing from the professionals that do it for a living. So here’s a few questions, feel free to add anything if you feel that it’s necessary. What things could I do to get a job ready for after college? (internships, for example.) What types of things could I work on to better my resume, in order to get a great marketing job after college? In the past, a man I look up to has told me that marketing jobs don’t work and that I’ll only be able to get small “side-jobs” out of it. Is this true? How competitive is it for a full-time marketing job? What things would should I study more to guarantee a successful career in marketing? (Digital marketing, for example.) What advice would you give to your younger self, related to marketing? – by hq overview TwoTwentyNineStudios – –
