I teach at a community college. We teach HTML/CSS in one class and JS/jQuery in another. In the HTML class, I use “Learning Web Design” by Jennifer Robbins as the main textbook. I like the book and students typically do too. The college I work for is pushing us toward using free resources on the web and elsewhere to reduce the cost of textbooks. I have been using MDN for some time for my reference, but would it be an adequate replacement for a textbook? I don’t want to move, but I can see someone criticizing a purchase when there is a lot available for free. The book is about $30 since it isn’t a “real” textbook, so it is affordable. Any thoughts are appreciated. – by hq overview inetguy – –
