Need help on the upfront cost

I need an urgent advise here. I started an agency this month and right now got my first contract. It’s not a big and of only $20K. The client is saying that they are not ready to prepay. I need your advise on deciding the upfront percentage. How much upfront percentage did you take when you started out? If you’re an established player now then I understand that you have a policy of let’s say 50% upfront. Based on your reputation, your clients may agree to pay that also.
