I’ve decided it’s time to move on from programming solely on my 2013 Macbook Pro and to start using some larger monitors. I work with python and postgres. Do you guys prefer using a laptop with external monitors, so that all of your documents are in one central place? Or do you use an iMac or something else for desktop work, then move over to a laptop when needed? My time is split about 50/50 between working at my office desk and out and about at libraries or coffee shops. Budget wise I am tempted to buy one of the new 24″ iMacs, because my 2013 macbook pro does not support 4k monitors and I prefer a retina display when coding. Buying a new laptop, plus external monitors will likely be more than the iMac. However, I’m worried about switching back and forth between two computers. Especially when it involves git repos which I do not trust to sync and will probably just push/pull branches to work between the two computers. Look forward to hearing everybody’s thoughts! – by /hq/caseym – –
