Question on posts weakening each other’s position in search results

Hi all, I tried to find the answer to this on Google but I’m obviously not finding the right words, wondering if anyone here can help. Let’s say I have two blog posts, one is “Brand X Product Y review” and the other is “Brand X Product Z review”. If I publish both of these posts, would they in effect weaken each others position in search results when someone searches for “Brand X”? I know that you shouldn’t have the exact same focus keyword on different posts for that very reason, but I was wondering how it works when the focus keywords are different but v. similar, and how related keywords common to both posts would come into play.
