I work with clients on increasing productivity, focus and lowering stress. One of the key ways of increasing your productivity is time blocking important tasks each day. To do two things at once, is to do nothing at all. In fact, show me a multi-tasker and I will show you a poor performer over the sum of their tasks. That said, we have all been in the situation where we are deep in one task and then another task pops up or appears. The question then is which task do you do and when? It is very easy to waste a lot of time contemplating these questions- counterproductively making you even less productive, as you are wasting time not doing either task. Instead, next time ask yourself the following simple question: “Can I do this new task in two minutes or less?” If the answer is yes- do it! If the answer is no, add it too your task list below your important tasks and come back to it later. This is the two minute rule. This one little trick will really help you save time deciding which task to do next, as the decision making process is effectively automated. Meaning, more tasks get complete and you have more time to deeply focus on the important “must do’ tasks. Let me know your thoughts below. – by /hq/AmbitionScopedotcom – –
