I work at a large corporate company, specifically on a team working on edge tech. We recently ‘merged/acquired/were bought’, and we had a significantly redundant set of applications. The project I’ve been involved in has been a 3-4 year trainwreck. I don’t make the decisions, I just make things work. Over my time here, I’ve worked my way into a managing/leading a dev team, and we’re relatively successful, within our small group. The decision was made to scrap the project. I’m told that no matter what happens, they will have a place for me, but here’s my concern…I came into this industry with no degree, and for that, I took the first low-ball offer provided. I believed I just needed an opportunity to prove myself, and we could discuss compensation after the fact. Seems I may have been wrong. Now that I’ve been here for 6 years, and I am a proven and reputable resource, I have been pushing hard for the past 10 months for fair-pay (I’m roughly 70% of where I should be, given my position and my location). My decision makers have agreed with me, and repeatedly tell me it’s in the works, but it’s been dragging on, and I’m starting to feel like I’m getting strung along. My trustworthiness has led to me getting rail-roaded in the past, but I still have faith people will do what’s right when presented the opportunity. Am I gullible in believing they are going to do anything, considering that they can’t even tell me where I’m going to be in a few weeks? – by /hq/Left-Brain-Created – –
