I run a news website with an associated Facebook page with almost an audience of nearly 20k likes. Over the last 4-6 weeks, we’ve noticed a SHARP drop off in reach, engagement and subsequent click-through to our website. Comparing September to October, we’re down 29.23% in reach, 30.36% on clicks to link posts we publish, 47.34% in reactions, while the website is down 28.26% in traffic. Both months have had a couple of big stories. September had a major driver, but even removing that from the calculations, we’re still down substantially. I’ve been trying to do research on best practices for a page like ours…but it’s tough as much of the advice and literature is focused towards business pages. We produce 3-4 (sometimes more) stories per day, meaning we need to publish more than the recommended 1-2 times per day. 90% of our posts are link posts (with the link preview). The remainder are either videos or photos with links in the description. We have the ability to expand what we post (currently just local news) to include more regional stories to go upwards of 8-10 times per day…however I’ve read that at those volume, Facebook could read us as spam. We’re also looking into varying our post types in an effort to publish more varied types of content. We’d love to do more video, and have that capability, however that limits click-through to our website which is a money-maker. Would appreciate any reading or insight on how to break through the brick wall in front of us. – by hq overview Joey2804 – –
