So… I studied a degree in animation 16 years ago. Then worked as an animator and video editor for 10 years. Before moving my young family to the South West coast in the UK, where I set up my own animation studio (initially in a spare box room at home). Plus built the company website in 2013. Through necessity, I began learning about SEO along with constant improvement in web design skills. 6 years on, I’ve learnt quite a lot and spend around 1 day a week on something SEO/website related to our own business. We now rank in the top 5 for various targetted keywords.. so the many, many hours have slowly paid off. I just came out of a meeting with a client where I found myself saying: “Yes sure, we can create your website from scratch and provide some ongoing SEO. Plus we can manage to host. Though the cost would be ‘x’ … and no don’t worry I’ll take an approach that requires minimal time and effort on your part”. “Great, when do we start” came the reply. “oh..”…”err…”… “Friday!”. “Great!!”… …… In all honesty, it will be an interesting addition to the animation studio day job. Plus I believe the budget is about right to create something of good value and it allows us to maintain a business relationship. Though, I thought I was going into the meeting to discuss a video. It’s not something I’d normally have said yes to, but our studio had produced multiple graphic design, film and animation projects for the client and we work well with them. It feels like a roundabout early step to becoming a full-service marketing and design agency… but… well.. you know.. if it works… Here are the numbers… I’d love to know what people think of this. As it was all a little ‘finger in the air’ at the time. £6900+VAT – In-person design discussion. (To be quoted for once any changes are known). Additional optional work: • Setup Blog / Pages for case studies: • Option of £100 a month for us to arrange and manage the hosting. Including ensuring any plugins are updated and secure. Equally open to them hosting and managing themselves. • Write a high-quality blog article or case study using the provided imagery, with research and professional text copy. £1100+VAT. Suggest 1 per month on an ongoing basis. Hmm… I’m hoping this was all a good idea. – by hq overview stormy3000 – –
