Why does selling courses have a bad wrap? Like Tai Lopez and others?

Why is it different then paying for anything else? If someone is designing a course to sell that they feel is better than you spending hundreds of hours obtaining the information for free online, or through expensive trial and errors- what’s the issue with it? You pay for college, school, courses. You’re paying someone who has put together their experience in a nutshell for you. Why does this community have such a bad wrap for this?
