I help run several WP/woocommerce sites.

The amount of Woo integrations on the backend make it very attractive. We have an integration with suppliers on a couple of the sites and that alone is worth using it.

The very real and serious problem is performance. As a 20+ year developer, I know how to make something fast, but you just can not do it with WP. Redis, varnish, etc.. lots of things will be said about it. The only solution is going headless with WP on the backend.

If you scour GitHub you will find a bunch of solid projects with a headless WP front end in just about any flavor you seek. VueStorefront is a good place to start.

Other than the speed aspect. There are things I do not like about WP but overall it’s a very serviceable. You should do well.

I know it wasn’t asked, but I will say that there are a few other self-hosted options that people overlook .
